Water Aid improves WASH in hospitals
Water Aid International says its Delivery Life 2 project has reached out to 33 health care facilities in six districts with services aimed at improving water, sanitation and hygiene
This was said during a media tour in the areas of Traditional Authority Kawinga and Chiwewo in Machinga district that was aimed at appreciating some of the achievements from different health care facilities that are benefiting from the project
Country manager for Malawi Water Aid International Mercy Masoo said the project which is funded by Scottish government to a tune of 1.9 billion kwacha targets 150 health care facilities by the year 2025
In his remarks district nursing and midwifery for Machinga Memory Bwanali said “through the project Water Aid has constructed bathrooms and toilets at Kawinga and Chikwewo health centres hence promoting hygiene.”
The project is being implemented in partnership with national initiative for civic education and Amref
One of the beneficiaries Dorica Dickson said the project has eased the challenges they were facing such as walking long distances to fetch water hence putting their lives at risk
