Former Malawi President asks government to resign

Former President Professor Peter Mutharika has asked Tonse Alliance government to step down as it has lost public trust.

Speaking at the press conference in Mangochi, Mutharika who is also president for Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) said Chakwera should return from the trip to United Nations general assembly

He suggested that after stepping down; the government of national unity should be established pending the next elections after ninety days

Mutharika said Malawi is in a serious crisis because of poor policies the Chakwera government is following therefore they cannot continue in such situation.

He mentioned high cost of living, persistence blackouts, forex shortage, impending hunger and the collapsed economy.

The DPP President has reiterated his position that he is ready to provide solutions to the challenges Malawi is going through in the government of national unity.
