Malawi Relief Fund UK, Muslim World League assist vulnerable people in Malawi
Malawi Relief Fund UK has embarked on a food distribution exercise for less privileged Muslims across the country
Speaking in Salima after distributing food packs to 500 Muslims at Bwanali, Thawale, Mkupha and Maganga villages Malawi Relief Fund UK office administrator Aisha Misi said the exercise is aimed at reaching out to poor Muslims especially in rural areas with items that will help in breaking their fasting
She also said for the first time Malawi Relief Fund UK has reached out to Muslims in northern region districts with food for Ramadhan
“The organization also engages in a number of development activities such as building houses for elderly people and orphans, drilling boreholes, paying fees for the underprivileged students and assisting those with various disability challenges,” Misi
Meanwhile, Muslim World League has distributed maize flour to 3000 households affected by hunger in Chikwawa District
After the function Muslim World League Country Representative Noordeen Kaondo said they made the donation because Chikwawa and Nsanje districts face hunger every year
Kaondo pledged that “Muslim World League will drill boreholes in Chikwawa to mitigate water challenges.”
In her remarks Member of Parliament for Chikwawa Nkombezi Honorable Abida Mia said people in the district are at risk of hunger this year due to poor rainfall
She thanked Muslim World League for the boreholes it is intending to drill saying will help to reduce waterborne diseases in the district
