Government to recover money from MSB Bank sale
Minister of finance has assured parliament that government will recover all money from the sale of Malawi Savings Bank MSB
Felix Mlusu said this after parliamentarians asked the assurance from the Minister that the money will be recovered
Mlusu said they will use the existing fund which was established by DPP government to recover the money
He said 13 individuals and companies owed government 11 billion kwacha at the sale of the bank
According to Mlusu Mulli brothers owes government 10 billion kwacha and the rest 1 billion kwacha
“The then government agreed that Mulli brothers should pay the money in 167 years,” Mlusu
He said Muli towards 2020 fresh elections signed a deal with DPP government to be paying 5 million kwacha monthly to government until he fully refunds the 10 billion kwacha
On the long awaited teachers houses Minister of education Agness Nyalonje said they will be constructed in areas where the need is most acute.
However, Nyalonje said such project needs a lot of money hence will take a lot of time
Political analyst has welcomed government decision to recover money from the sale of Malawi Savings Bank MSB.
Sherif Kaisi says the manner in which the sale transactions were handled leaves a lot to be desired hence the need for government to thoroughly investigate the sale.
“That the money is for the public hence the matter should not be viewed as political in nature,” Kaisi
He has however urged government to also investigate corruption within the current government.
