Magistrate court transfers to High court cement case
Lilongwe Senior resident magistrate Shyreen Chirwa has transferred to High court the 5.1 billion kwacha cement case
The High court is expected to set a date when the case can commence
Bodyguard of former president professor Peter Mutharika, Norman Chisale, Mukhitho, Chinura and Mbilizi have been officially informed of their charges
They have been charged with seven counts which are bordering on fraud, money laundering, abuse of office, knowingly use of documents in order to deceive, smuggling and aiding smuggling
Police interrogated Mutharika on his alleged involvement in the case but he denied the wrong doing
However his bank accounts were frozen and he has been fighting in court to have them unfrozen so that he could access the money
The suspects allegedly committed the offense during the regime of Democratic Progressive Party DPP
