Government extends closure of schools by two weeks
Government has extended the closure of schools by two weeks to allow health authorities assess the situation in terms of spread and management of covid-19 pandemic.
In a joint statement secretary for health Dr Charles Mwansambo and secretary for education Chikondano Mussa say the school closure will be extended by another two weeks starting from 8th February due to prevailing COVID-19 situation
Dr Mwansambo and Mussa say all students in boarding secondary schools as well as residential students in colleges and universities should be released to go back home for these two weeks.
“Government further calls on all students, parents and guardians to continue observing all COVID-19 preventive measures at home,” Mwansambo & Mussa
Government closed the schools for three weeks after many people died and tested positive in the second wave of covid-19
