400 Kidney Patients receive Treatment in Central Hospitals

As Malawi commemorates world kidney day ministry of health says 400 patients with the condition are receiving care in central hospitals where dialysis services are provided

Secretary for health Dr Samson Mndolo says despite the high burden Kidney disease can be prevented and progression to chronic disease can be delayed with appropriate access to basic diagnostics and early treatment

Mndolo has therefore urged everyone to eat healthy foods, be physically active, increase water intake, avoid excessive weight gain and taking of unregulated herbal medicines among others

According to statistics globally over 850 million people are affected by different types of kidney disorders

The world Kidney day is being commemorated under the theme “Are your Kidneys ok? Detect Early, protect kidney health” which highlights life changing benefits of early detection
