31 000 Households affected by Disasters in Rainy Season
Department of Disaster Management Affairs DODMA says the number of households affected by disasters since the onset of the rainy season has now reached 31 thousand.
In a statement DODMA says the figure which represents 141 thousand 359 people has increased from 10 thousand households in December last year.
Signed by Commissioner Charles Kalemba, the statement says the figure of deaths has also risen to 31 from 11 last year.
He said 22 of the deaths have been caused by lightning strikes while 9 are as a result of collapsing walls and roofs.
