26 People die in Minibus Fire Accident in Kasungu

Twenty Six people have died when a minibus caught fire in Kasungu district  in the morning of Thursday 22 August, 2024.

Spokesperson of Kasungu police Joseph Kachikho says the minibus driver hit the fuel tanker before overturning and bursting into flames.

Kachikho says initially the driver had hit to death the pedal cyclist who was crossing the road after another fuel tanker had passed.

He says there were 25 passengers in the minibus including 23 adults and two children coming from Jenda in Mzimba district and heading to Santhe in Kasungu district.

“The minibus registration number MZ 11670 was being driven by Jack Phiri,”  Kachikho.
