WOLREC disappointed with slow investigation on women abuse
Women Legal Resources Centre WOLREC is disappointed with the slow pace at which investigations on abuses allegedly committed by police officers on women in Lilongwe are being done.
Executive director of WOLREC Maggie Kathewera Banda says no suspected police officers have been arrested so far.
“It is disheartening to hear that one of the survivors of rape is pregnant while the other one has been diagnosed with a sexually transmitted infection,”Kathewera Banda says
Therefore she has called upon president as commander in chief of security forces and He4She campaign to stand with the survivors of rape and defilement.
Kathewera Banda has also called upon Malawi police service to act swiftly while they wait for Malawi Human Rights Commission to release its findings on the matter.
