Ward councillors’ by-elections in April

By-elections in Malindi ward, Mangochi will be conducted on 10th April this year.

Mangochi district commissioner Mosses Chimphepo announced during an extraordinary full council meeting on Saturday.

Chimphepo says his office has received a letter from Malawi Electoral commission about the by-elections.

According to the letter the launch of the by-election in Malindi ward will be conducted on 23rd February which will be followed by training of staff.

Chimphepo said candidates will be allowed to collect their nomination papers from 27th February up to March and the deadline of receiving them is 23rd March.

He further said the campaign period will commence on 13th March up to 8th April and the results will be announced on 11th April.

The by-elections will be held in Malindi ward after the death of councilor John Saidi Makolera last year.

The by-elections will also be held in Mulanje.
