Voter Registration Cards For Lilongwe Nsinja Dumped In Mangochi
Over 750 voter registration cards for Lilongwe Nsinja have been dumped at Thema 1 primary school in the areas of senior chief Namkumba in Mangochi district.
According to people who have tipped Radio Islam they found the cards after the officers finished 3rd phase of voter inspection and verification which was held in Mangochi, Balaka, Chiradzulu, Machinga and Zomba.
Speaking with Radio Islam spokesperson of Malawi Electoral Commission MEC Sangwani Mwafulirwa said they had received the concern and were doing investigations.
“I appeal to political parties to be patient as clarification on the matter will be provided soon,” pleaded Mwafulirwa
However, coordinator of NICE Trust in Mangochi Tena Banda has asked MEC to act swiftly on the issue saying any spillage of information during elections period needs to be clarified.
Commenting spokesperson of main opposition Malawi Congress party Maurice Munthali described the development as disgusting and unbelievable.
