Vice President orders Ministry to provide Report on Fuel by Thursday
Vice President has directed Ministry of Energy to provide a comprehensive report on fuel situation by 6th February
Dr. Michael Usi issued the directive during a high-level meeting with key stakeholders in the fuel sector as part of his ministerial role in Public Service Delivery.
The meeting brought together representatives from Ministry of Energy, National Oil Company of Malawi (NOCMA), Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA) and Public Procurement and Disposal of Assets Authority (PPDA).
The Vice President sought to understand the challenges hindering the normalization of fuel supply.
Usi told the Ministry that the report must detail specific reasons behind delays in transporting 31 million liters of fuel currently at Tanga Port in Tanzania and outline concrete measures to prevent further supply chain disruptions.
Usi emphasized that ensuring a stable and reliable fuel supply is a top priority for his office, and that inefficiencies and deliberate delays will not be tolerated.
Minister of Energy Ibrahim Matola expressed deep frustration over inefficiencies within the Ministry and other players in fuel sector.
