UTM Summons Usi
UTM Party has summoned its former president Dr Michael Usi to a disciplinary hearing scheduled on Monday 30th December at its head office in Lilongwe.
According to the summon signed by director of legal affairs Charles Thole Usi will answer two charges before the disciplinary committee.
The first charge is behaving in a manner which provokes division or impact negatively on the unit of UTM contrary to the party’s constitution
The second charge is of joining or supporting a political organisation or party, other than an Organisation in alliance with UTM
The party says on the first charge Usi mobilized UTM supporters on 19th November, putting on the party’s regalia in a government function despite termination of a political coalition between UTM and MCP
On the second charge the former UTM president urged his followers during voter registration whistle stops in Mwanza district to vote for MCP echoing Boma ndilomweli slogan which is sued and identified by MCP followers
Thole says Usi is at liberty to appear before the committee with the company of your counsel adding his absence will be constructed as a lack of defense and committee will enter a verdict against him without further ado.
Meanwhile, UTM President Dr Dalitso Kabambe has urged all party members to remain steadfast
Writing on his facebook page Kabambe says UTM members should not despair because the future is both noble and imperative.
He says UTM is at crossroads where their legacy must be defended with unwavering commitment, adding they will rise above the challenges.
Kabambe reminded them of the pillars of natural justice and inclusivity that fortify their cause in these turbulent times as well as evaluate each action taken within their ranks.
He says UTM family has endured much this year, demonstrating an incredible resilience and unity that cannot be easily shaken.
