Three Teenagers killed by Car during Initiation Ceremony

Three teenagers have died after being hit by a cruising car during an initiation ceremony in the early hours of September 16 at Ndege in Mangochi

The deceased have been identified as Friday Adam 16, Lenard Makiyi 17 and Matola Asikeremu 18 all from TA Chimwala

The accident which involved the car registration number BT 11532 was being driven by Frank Nguni 29 of Kachenga Village TA Chimwala in Balaka from the direction of Mangochi Boma towards Liwonde

Upon reaching Ndege Village near Mpale Trading centre the driver hit four boys who were part of a procession for the chinamwali celebration and were dancing on the road

“Due to impact three boys sustained severe head injuries and died while receiving treatment at Ukalanga Health centre,” says Amina Tepani publicist of Mangochi Police

An 18 year old Imran Ignasiyo suffered fractures in both legs and is receiving treatment at Mangochi district hospital

The driver fled the scene abandoning the vehicle and later handed himself to Ulongwe police post

He is in police custody and will answer charges of causing death by reckless driving
