Race to 2019 elections begins
One of the aspiring female candidates for Xomba Malosa Constituency Grace Kwelepeta has called for more support to women contestants if the 50:50 campaign is to be achieved in the forthcoming tripartite elections.
Kwelepeta said this when she visited Machinjiri and Domasi health centres during which she donated assorted items.
“There is need for more support in terms of leadership skills and resources,” said Kwelepeta.
On the donation she made Kwelepeta said she thought of extending a hand to those in the hospital because such people are always in dire need of support.
On the day she gave out assorted items in antenatal, postnatal, female and pediatric wards.
Appreciating the gesture Falesi Mtakwile from Likonde village who had just given birth to a baby boy hailed the shadow MP for the gift.
“What I have received will take me a long way because I could not afford on my own,” Mtakwile said
Kwelepeta’s call comes a week after Xomba Central parliamentarian Patricia Kainga Nangoxo told
radio Islam that lack of resources is one of the challenges aspiring women candidates face in their political journey.
