Teachers Training College delay to open due to Cyclone Chido, unforeseen Circumstances
Opening of three teachers training colleges TTCs of Kasungu, Chikwawa and Phalombe districts have been delayed due to devastating effects of cyclone Chido which destroyed infrastructure and other unforeseen circumstances
Ministry of education has informed all students that the three TTC’s that it will postpone the opening from 6th to 20th January
Secretary for education Mangani Chilala Katundu has assured the public that the ministry is working tirelessly to speed up rehabilitation processes and resolve other challenges so that the TTC’s can reopen on 20th January.
Meanwhile, Minister of Basic and Secondary Education Madalitso Kambauwa Wirima has visited Kasungu Secondary School to appreciate extent of damage caused by stormy rains mid December.
On December 14 and 15, heavy rains accompanied by strong winds destroyed hundreds of houses including public infrastructure such as Kasungu Prison Farm, Kasungu Teachers Training College and Kasungu Secondary School.

Head Teacher Andrew Chinseu briefed the minister that the 61 year-old school generally needs refurbishment and expansion as it now enrolls more students than initially designed.
In her response, the minister said Kasungu is one of the schools earmarked for major maintenance.
