Teachers College tutors boycott examinations marking
Teachers Training Colleges’ tutors who are expected to mark the 2020 primary teacher certificate examinations have boycotted the exercise demanding Malawi National Examination Board (MANEB) to review the marking rates.
According to one of the tutors who opted for anonymity, they were invited to mark the papers from Tuesday January 14 2020.
The tutor told Radio Islam that they are not comfortable with the arrangement that they will be receiving K80 per script marked.
“We are demanding the subsistence allowance of K40 000.00 per night,” revealed the tutor
Confirming the development, MANEB Public Relations Officer, Mayamiko Chiwaya, said the tutors’ demand was not stipulated in the invitation letters.
Chiwaya said “MANEB will not bow to the demand and asked those who are not ready to carry out the exercise to leave the premises.”
On accommodation, she said the examination board officials have resolved to accommodate 2 tutors in one room.
