Several suspected Cholera cases registered in Malawi

Ministry of health and population says several suspected Cholera cases have been reported this current cholera season from various districts but have come out negative.

In a daily Cholera update report the Ministry says as of 12th January there is one suspected Cholera case from Mangochi district whose culture result is not yet out.

Epidemiology unit says this clearly indicates the good work the districts are doing on cholera surveillance.

“On 9th January Malawi reported the first cholera confirmed case at Limbe health centre in Blantyre,” Ministry says

It adds that the case was discharged and there is no admitted case so far.

The Health Ministry says all districts should resume with immediate effect reporting cholera cases including zero reports.
