Rival Palestinian Leaders form Reconciliation Committee

Rival Palestinian political leaders meeting in Egypt have decided to form a committee on intra-Palestinian reconciliation.

President Mahmoud Abbas and Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh met for rare face-to-face talks along with representatives of most Palestinian political factions.

Abbas said he considered the meeting of general secretaries of the Palestinian factions a first and important step in continuing their dialogue, which they hope will achieve desired goals as soon as possible.
