Research finds challenges in Malawi girl education
Citizens Education Report of 2017 has said girls are still facing challenges to access education in Malawi.
The research was conducted by Action Aid in 20 schools in Chitipa, Neno, Lilongwe and Ntchisi districts.
“Most of the girls are prone to physical, verbal as well as sexual abuse, bullying and humiliation,” reveals the report
Action Aid has among others recommended that government must ensure the national budget prioritizes girl education and train teachers on ways to deal with violence and abuse against girls.
“Government must ensure that all schools have adequate sanitation facilities especially for girls,” adds the report.
