RBM Reveals Demonstrations’ Impact On Economy
Reserve Bank of Malawi RBM has said demonstrations have negatively affected economy in the country.
RBM Governor Madalitso Kabambe has made the remarks during a press briefing at the bank’s offices in Mzuzu on recent economic developments, inflation projection and policy decision.
This comes after holding a third monitory policy committee meeting on 25th and 26th July.
Addressing the reporters Kabambe expressed worry over recent political issues especially demonstrations saying many business operations have reduced their productivity.
Kabambe said inflation has gone up from 13.0 % in May to 13.9 % in July 2019 describing it as a crisis which will be resolved soon
“The committee has put in place measures to improve the economy and allow many investors to do their businesses,” Kabamde said
He has warned that if the destruction of property continues there will be big impact on national economy.
