Police Driver missing after abandoning Vehicle at Liwonde Barrage
Driver of a Malawi Police Band Tata from Zomba who was assigned to Balaka for voter registration activities is missing after abandoning the vehicle at Liwonde Barrage
The missing driver has been identified as Thomas Ahmed Wilson who comes from Namalaka village Traditional Authority Malemia in Zomba
Brief facts are that after completion of registration exercise by Malawi Electoral Commission on 3rd February inspector of police eastern region Jimmy Pasula reported that they contacted the driver to pick them back to Zomba
The driver said was going to refuel the car but did not return up to 4th February during the day time when Pasula with other officers from Zomba were assisted with transport by officer in charge of Balaka
While on their way back to Zomba they were surprised to see the above mentioned Tata vehicle just parked after Liwonde Barrage
Upon entering it they found two suicide notes expressing his displeasure with marital issues, various items and money amounting to 800 kwacha, police boots and uniform
Marine department conducted a search in Shire River but to no avail and stopped due the searching due to bad weather
The searching process continues today
