PMRA calls for vigilance in Medicine Side Effects reporting
Pharmacy and Medicines Regulatory Authority (PMRA) has asked patients and health professionals in the country to be vigilant in reporting cases of medicine side effects to the Authority.
This is according to a press statement by the authority’s director general, Mphatso Kawaye released today as Malawi joins over 80 national medicine regulatory agencies and several non-governmental organizations across the global in this year’s MedSafety Week.
Kawaye says reporting suspected side effects to PMRA results into provision of medicines safer to patients and better prescription
He adds that every report is important in building more knowledge and understanding of the benefits and risks of medicines in clinical use and allows action to be taken to minimize risks.
The director says all reports made to PMRA are thoroughly examined to determine the right steps to be taken to protect the population from harm.
