
Parliamentarian asks Government to increase CDF to K500 Million
Member of Parliament for Mulanje Bale has asked government to increase Constituency Development Fund CDF from 200 million kwacha to 500 million kwacha
Victor Musowa told the deputy Minister of transport Peter Dimba that said the previous budget of CDF worth 40 million was worthy 8200 bags of cement but the 200 million kwacha is worthy 6000 bags which is not enough to do the construction works in the constituencies
Musowa said the funding to councils is erratic hence the proposal to increase CDF funding
In his response Dimba said government is committed to increase funding for maintenance of roads under district councils.
When Parliamentary deliberations resumed Tuesday morning only 51 out of 193 members of parliament were in the national assembly
This was noted during a roll call that was presided over by second deputy speaker of parliament Aisha Mambo Adams
141 were absent but Adams said the parliamentary discussions should continue
Meanwhile, the 2025 to 2026 national budget will be presented in parliament on 28th February.
