OPC reinstates ACB director
Office of President and Cabinet OPC has reinstated director general of ant corruption bureau ACB Martha Chizuma
In a letter Secretary to OPC Colleen Zamba says the reinstatement comes after director of public prosecutions Masauko Chamkakala discontinued the interdiction case of Chizuma
Commenting on the matter National anti-corruption alliance chairperson Moses Mkandawire, says government should not interfere in operations of ACB and let Chizuma work independently
Mkandawire says Malawians should support the ACB director until her tenure comes to an end
He also says the country must focus on changing procurement system because it is where corruption takes place.
On 31st January OPC interdicted Chizuma from exercising her powers and functions of her office as director of ant corruption bureau.
However, Malawi Law society obtained court injunction against the interdiction of Chizuma
Few days later embassies of United States of America and United Kingdom expressed deep concern saying Malawi has lost its credibility in the fight against corruption since the arrest of the ACB director two months ago.
