Muslim Scholars says Death Penalty Abolition in Malawi Constitution will bring Chaos

One of the Muslim Scholars in the country says abolition of death penalty in the country’s constitution will bring about chaos in the country.

Sheikh Ahmad Chienda was reacting to the ministry of justice’s reaffirmed commitment to eliminating the legal structure.

Speaking in Radio Islam’s Islamic Hard Talk Program, Sheikh Chienda said the act will promote lawlessness as the country will witness increased cases of humane acts thus jeopardizing security.

He said removing the law which was drawn from the Quran and the bible will move Malawi from being a God fearing nation.

Sheikh Chienda then appealed to the president and members of parliament to leave the law as is until a referendum is held.
