MAM revises Chichewa Quran
Muslim Association of Malawi (MAM) through Majilis Ulama, has commenced the revision of the Chichewa Translated Quran.
The Chichewa version which was first translated by the late Sheikh Khalid Ibrahim and has been in use for the past 17 years is being revised in order to publish its second version.
According to a press statement made available to Radio Islam, the review is one way of preserving the Holy Quran.
Speaking in an interview with Radio Islam, Muslim Association of Malawi, Publicity Secretary, Sheikh Dinala Chabilika, urged members of the general public and other organizations to stop printing and distributing the current Chichewa version until the Majilis Ulama concludes its work.
Sheikh Chabulika further said “those willing to print should seek consent from leadership of Muslim Association of Malawi.”
