Men who robbed an Indian businessman arrested
Three men who were at large after stealing k2.5 million and a laptop from an Indian national have been arrested.
Assistant public relations officer for Mangochi police Sergent Aminah Daudi Tepani identified the suspects as Smart Jangiya Mandala, Rashid Robert and Maloko Charles M’bwana.
“The incident happened in the evening when the victim Imran Yusuf who is doing business in Mangochi was chatting with his family,” said Daudi
She added that four men armed with panga knives and axes ordered Yusuf to give them money and he surrendered 2.5 million kwacha, hp laptop as well as Samsung galaxy s4 mobile phone.
“He informed police who arrested one of the suspects Rashid Robert Maloko aged 44 the following day and police recovered 273, 500 kwacha,” added Daudi.
She further said police officers arrested the two suspects in Lilongwe and recovered an Hp laptop.
They will appear before court soon to answer a case of robbery with violence contrary to section 301 of the penal code.
Smart Jangiya Mandala and Rashid Robert hails from Mpembena village TA Chimwala in Mangochi while Charles M’bwana hails from Mdenga village TA Kalembo in Balaka district.
