MEC trains EMD Operators on Voter Registration
Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) has urged newly recruited Election Management Device (EMD) Operators to remain non-partisan during voter registration process, which begins this month.
Speaking during the opening of two days training on how to operate EMD MEC Commissioner Dr. Emanuel Fabiano emphasised that the operators must set aside any personal political biases
Fabiano announced that the commission has established 6,344 registration centers nationwide and procured 6,500 devices for the registration process
One of the participants, Blessings Nyirenda, expressed a strong commitment to remain non-partisan in order to uphold the credibility of next year’s election.
Similar training sessions are also taking place in Blantyre, Mponela, and Mzuzu, where over 800 EMD operators are being trained on how to properly use MEC equipment.
