MEC Trains Electoral Stakeholders on Pilot Voter Registration

Malawi Electoral Commission MEC has dismissed fears of using the names registered in its pilot voter registration for the forthcoming 2025 general election

This has been said by MEC commissioner Caroline Mfune during briefing of district elections supervisory team multiparty liason committee, civil society organisations and media on pilot voter registration in Blantyre

According to Mfune the data that will be collected in the pilot voter registration will be destroyed before the initial registration process for the 2025 elections

Mfune says National Registration bureau will not be available at pilot registration centres

In his remarks Gift Malenga from UTM expressed disappointment with challenges in national registration process hence called for improvement to ensure that no one is left behind especially in southern region districts

Malenga called on MEC staff to work collaboratively with political party monitors saying most of the time they do not provide much needed information especially during registration and voting processes
