MEC to hold Pilot Voter Registration Postmortem

Malawi Electoral Commission has said will on Monday hold a national postmortem of pilot voter registration which ended on Friday

The pilot voter registration conducted in 8 districts was aimed at testing new electronic management devices EMDs which will be used in voter registration for 2025 general elections.

MEC is expected to roll out the actual voter registration in October this year.

Speaking at the end of the pilot voter registration in Nsanje MEC Director of Media and Public Relations, Sangwani Mwafulirwa said “the exercise was a success and the turn up was good.”

Nsanje District Commissioner, Dominic Mwandira, said the pilot voter registration exercise was very crucial as it has managed to establish existing gaps.

Mwandira said some monitors at registration sites were failing to mention their party when asked.

He said through Multi-Party Liaison Committee, we are going to encourage political parties to civic educate their monitors including their roles during registration.
