MEC Postpones Vehicle Auctioning

Malawi Electoral Commission MEC has postponed auctioning of motor vehicles in Lilongwe.

In a statement chairperson of Internal Procurement and Disposal Committee says the auction was scheduled to take place at its Regional Elections Office on Tuesday, 16th July, 2019.

He said MEC has postponed the auction until further notice

Sangwani Mwafulirwa director of public relations of the commission said the reason of the postponement is the chaotic situation in Lilongwe after 21 May tripartite elections.

MEC already auctioned its materials including cameras, computers and vehicles which were involved in accidents and kept at its headquarters in Blantyre.

In a statement announcing the auctioning Chief Elections Officer of the commission Sam Alufandika had said the materials were not related to the elections.
