MEC contemplates to hold re-run, by-elections concurrently
Malawi Electoral Commission is contemplating on conducting elections in all vacant constituencies and ward concurrently.
This has come following a request by people of Lilongwe -south to hold bye-elections as soon as possible saying its long over-due.
In an interview, MEC’s publicist Sangwani Mwafulirwa said “the commission is also thinking of conducting bye-elections in a vacant ward in Balaka where its Councillor died few months ago and Mangochi west constituency where the high court last week nullified the 21st May parliamentary elections results.”
Mwafulirwa also said the commission is still planning on the cost of conducting the election.
