MCP Officials Arrested

Police in Mangochi have arrested two Malawi Congress Party (MCP) officials for allegedly using abusive language during Anti Jane Ansah demonstrations which were held in the district two weeks ago.

The two officials are the party’s 21 May parliamentary candidate for Mangochi Central Hussein Dady Anussa and the district youth committee member Awilo Nkuwu.

Mangochi Police Publicist Rodrick Maida decline to give more details on the arrest and referred this Radio to Eastern Region police saying “those people are being kept in Zomba Police,”

In his reaction, Eastern Region Police Public Relations Officer Joseph Nsauka confirmed that the suspects were transferred to Zomba Police.

However, he was quick to say that he had no details of the charges levelled against the two therefore asked for more time.
