Parliament Rejects MCP Proposal To Discuss Security

Malawi congress party MCP has expressed sadness on the refusal to discuss the issue of national security in parliament.

MCP Chief Whip Sam Kawale raised the issue in the national assembly but government side rejected it.

Kawale said he wanted to discuss national security in order to have peace in the country.

“The demonstrations are making the legislators to loose focus in parliament as they are thinking of their safety,” Kawale said

Meanwhile, leader of opposition in parliament Lobin Lowe has asked chairperson of Malawi Electoral Commission Justice Dr Jane Ansah to leave the post in order to stop the demonstrations.

Speaking in parliament Lowe said” there are three ways in which Ansah can move out of power which are resign, DPP should facilitate for her resignation or authorities should fire her.”

He said Malawi is in a serious mess because of Ansah since property is being destroyed and many MPs are not attending parliament sessions due to the demonstrations.
