Mary’s Meals expands School Feeding Program to 295 000 Children
Mary’s Meals, the Global school feeding charity has announced expansion of its school feeding program in Malawi set to benefit an additional 295 000 children in 16 districts by April 2025
This will increase the number of children receiving daily nutritious meals from Mary’s Meals Malawi to over 1.37 million in the country
In a press release Mary’s Meals Malawi says currently the program feeds over 1 million children across 24 districts every school day helping them to focus, learn and achieve their potential
Country director for Mary’s Meals Malawi Angela Chipeta-Khonje says beginning September 2024 it will extend its feeding program to an additional 45, 000 learners across 69 schools
“In addition it will also expand to new education zones reaching a further 250, 000 learners across 265 schools previously not covered by the program,” Chipeta-Khonje says
This expansion will be rolled out in three phases October 2024, January 2025 and April 2025
The targeted areas include regions with high food insecurity, limited school feeding partners, urban-rural divides, low education indicators and high emergency prone areas
