MAM opens news masjid and madrassah block at Mposa, Machinga
Muslims Association of Malawi (MAM) has described prayers as the only tool for behavioural change.
Secretary General for MAM, Alhaji Twaibu Lawe, made the observation when he officially handed over a new masjid and madrassah block to Muslims of Ntumbula Village Traditional Authority Mposa in Machinga district.
Alhaji Lawe said if one keeps on praying five times a day, cannot indulge in immoral behaviours.
Alhaji Lawe therefore advised the Muslims in the area to make use of the new masjid by observing five compulsory prayers every day.
In his speech, Group Village Headman Ntumbula, asked MAM to drill a borehole close to the masjid saying people are walking long distance to fetch water.
Headman Ntumbula said people in the area collect water from unprotected wells a development which put the lives of people in danger.
Ntumbula however commended MAM for the structures but was quick to ask MAM to provide a sheikh to teach a madrassah and lead prayers in the masjid.
The masjid has been constructed with financial support from the United Arab Emirates Aid through Dubai Charity Association.
