MAM appeals to Muslims to devote to Allah in Ramadhan

Muslim Association of Malawi (MAM) has appealed to Muslims to devote the month of Ramadhan in prayers for Allah to ease the economic challenges the country is going through.

MAM National Chairman, His Eminence Sheikh Idrissa Muhammad, made the appeal in his special message as Muslims in Malawi are expected to begin fasting in holy month of Ramadhan on Sunday.

Sheikh Muhammad said Malawians are struggling to meet their daily needs hence Muslims need to seek Allah’s intervention when fasting.

The Muslim leader however explained that the situation has also affected Islamic organizations as they are failing to carry out their programs including food distribution to needy Muslims

On politics, the National Chairman has encouraged all Muslims interested in politics to freely contest in various positions in the forthcoming general elections.

Sheikh Muhammad said it is a right to every Malawian including Muslims to participate in active politics hence the call.

He has however advised Muslims to avoid using Islam to gain political millage saying such behaviors undermine the religion.

Ramadhan is the ninth month of Islamic calendar in which Muslims around the world dedicate themselves to Allah through fasting, prayers and reflection.
