Malawi’s First Lady Appointed GGF Ambassador

First Lady has been appointed as new Ambassador of Plan International’s Global Girls Foundation (GGF).

 

As GGF Ambassador, Madam Monica Chakwera will play a crucial role in advocating for girls’ rights, education and leadership across Africa.

 

Lea Bachmann, GGF Managing Director said girls have the right to be heard and to lead change in their communities

 

Bachmann said with the help of the First Lady’s leadership, girls are ensured to be at the centre of decision-making processes that shape their futures

 

He said the chose Madam Chakwera because has championed initiatives to enhance access to quality education, healthcare and economic empowerment opportunities for young women as an active member of Organisation of African First Ladies for Development

 

In her remarks the first lady said there is need for a collective responsibility to ensure that every girl has an opportunity to thrive, lead and shape her own future
