Malawi President appeals for honest advice
President Professor Peter Mutharika has urged newly appointed ministers to take a lead in the fight against corruption, as it continues to prevail in many quarters of the country.
He made the remarks at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe during the swearing in ceremony for Rev. Malison Ndau, Minister of Transport and Public Works and Aggrey Masi, Deputy Minister of Defence.
“Corruption continues to rob the country of the necessary financial resources for development that has resulted in the unnecessary suffering of innocent, poor people,” expressed president Mutharika.
He advised them to perform their duties in a manner that upholds highest standards of integrity and propriety and you must work hard.
“One of the key roles of ministers is to advise the Head of State, therefore, it is my hope that you will provide honest and objective advice,” Mutharika said.
In their remarks, Ndau and Masi thanked President Mutharika for trusting them.
