Malawi To Launch 2019 PDNA Report
Department of Disaster Management Affairs (DoDMA) has said will launch Malawi 2019 Floods Post Disaster Needs Assessment PDNA report on Wednesday 3rd July.
According to James Chiusiwa for secretary and commissioner for disaster management affairs the launch will be held at Bingu International Convention Centre in Lilongwe.
Chiusiwa says vice President Everton Herbert Chimulirenji, will preside over the event.
He says the PDNA Report presents the impact of the March, 2019 floods on different sectors of Malawi economy, including on people’s livelihoods.
Chiusiwa further says the report has identified the recovery and reconstruction needs to enable the country recover from the floods.
He added that having completed the provision of humanitarian response to the affected households, there is now need for stakeholders to focus on implementing recovery interventions which will contribute to building the resilience of affected communities and the country as a whole, to disasters.
He stated that the recovery needs identified in the PDNA Report will guide this process.
During the launch, Chimulirenji will make symbolic presentations to representatives of affected local authorities, communities, non-governmental organizations, the media, the private sector and development partners.
