Malawi To Acheive WHO Target On Bilharzia Elimination-Ministry
Chief of Health Services in the Ministry of Health and Population Charles Mwansambo says there are positive indicators that Malawi will achieve World Health Organization’s (WHO) set target of eliminating bilharzia by 2030.
Speaking in Mangochi District during review meeting of 2018 mass drug administration, Mwansambo expressed the country’s optimism to eliminate bilharzia in the coming few years.
He described this year’s mass drug administration is one of the outstanding interventions of government.
“This remarkable achievement comes after health workers and teachers have been mobilizing people to receive the drugs,” said Mwansambo.
In his remarks, program officer for reproductive health and environment for education in the Ministry of Education Science and Technology Maxwell Dzikanyanga called for intensive awareness on ant-bilharzia drugs.
Dzikanyanga said parents and guardians who shun the drugs deny their children the right to health.
