Malawi Parliament passes customary land bill amendment
Parliament has passed the customary land bill amendment that will help to bring sanity in land administration issues
Speaking to Radio Islam at parliament building in Lilongwe deputy minister of lands Deus Gumba said “the new amendment creates land committees that will help promote transparency and accountability as well as allow the participation of women in land administration.”
Before passing the bill Democratic Progressive Party DPP and United Democratic Front UDF leaders commented on the bill and accepted it
However some members of parliament expressed fears that once passed into law will put their land at danger of being sold
But Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs Titus Mvalo cleared the fears saying the bill will protect the land
