Malawi Opposition party suspends its vice president
Malawi Congress party MCP has suspended its vice president Richard Msowoya and resolved to fire the secretary general Gustavu Kaliwo as well as former publicity secretary Jessie Kabwira.
The decision was made at a national executive committee meeting held on Sunday at MCP’s headquarters in Lilongwe.
MCP has said that the party will call for press briefing to explain what was discussed in the meeting.
Meanwhile, political analysts in the country have asked Malawi Congress Party to fully embrace democracy and the rule of natural justice.
Speaking in an interview with Radio Islam, Vincent Kondowe said MCP should focus on increasing the number of its followers not expelling or suspending the members.
Kondowe added that “the party should give contact and dialogue a chance.”
However he advised MCP followers to abide by its ideologies in order to avoid similar incidents in future.
In a separate interview Humphrey Mvula said the party must amend its constitution to be in line with democracy.
Mvula said the party should give a chance to members who are accused of indiscipline.
