Malawi launches national energy policy
Minister of Natural Resources, Energy and Mining has said the 2018 National Energy Policy will help to address the problems facing the sector.
Speaking during the launch Binton Kuntsaila said they revised the 2003 policy to make the energy sector significant to Malawians.
“My ministry is also planning to establish a rural electrification office by next year to monitor the implementation of the policy,” said Kuntsaira
In his remarks, World Bank Energy Specialist, Paul Kagaba Mukiibi, said they will continue helping government to deal with power problems.
Commenting, UNDP Resident Representative, Shigeki Komatsubara, said it is important to expand access to energy to Malawians.
