MAGA for audits in councils
Malawi Local Government Association (MAGA) has appealed to government to start conducting proper audit in councils every year as one way of dealing with corruption.
Speaking after a Parliamentary committee meeting of local Authorities and rural Development at Parliament building in Lilongwe, Executive Director for MAGA, Charles Chunga said that efforts are being made to end corruption in councils.
“We are working with government to ensure that issues of corruption and mismanagement of resources in councils are put to an end,” Chunga said
In his remarks chairperson for Parliamentary Committee on Local Government Horace Chipuwa, said lack of skilled personnel is one of the major contributing factors to corruption in District Councils.
