Lilongwe Islamic secondary school is the best performing in 2024 MSCE examinations
This has been announced by ministry of education in conjunction with Malawi National Examinations Board MANEB when they were releasing the results
Announcing the results director of MANEB Professor Dorothy Nampota says Lilongwe Islamic secondary school located in Lilongwe rural tops the list of best 10 performing schools based on percentage of candidates with distinctions
According to Nampota out of 172434 who sat for the exams 97222 pass rate representing 54.94 percent
She said the best performing is Zomba urban while the least performing is Machinga district
Commenting on the overall results educationist has suggested bringing back old system of teaching in order to improve performance of candidates in the MSCE exams.
Ben Navitcha has made this proposal because the results of this year’s MSCE examinations indicate a minimal increase in pass rate to 54.97 percent from 54.40 percent pass rate
According Navitcha there is no progress because students are not doing well especially in language subjects.
“Students or teachers should not be blamed but the system of teaching which is causing poor performance,” Navitcha
