Journalists told to write stories on disaster risk management.
Environmental Journalists Association of Malawi has asked journalists to write more stories on disaster risk management issues.
President of the Association Emmanuel Muwamba made the appeal today in Mangochi during the opening of a two day workshop for journalists on the dissemination of national disaster risk management policy.
Muwamba observed that the media plays a vital role of spreading information including of disaster response, recovery and risk reduction.
“The workshop will provide necessary skills and knowledge in reporting natural disasters in the country,” said Muwamba.
He added that government established disaster risk management policy to ensure that disaster risk management is mainstreamed in the development plan and policies of all sectors in order to reduce impact of disaster to sustain social economic development.
