Islamic Relief Malawi & Islamic Relief Malaysia to implement Water Project in Malawi
Islamic Relief Malawi in collaboration with Islamic Relief Malaysia to implement 150 thousand Dollars Water Project in Balaka.
The water project is expected to be implemented using money realized through a globe campaign which Islamic Relief Malaysia conducts every year to assist underdeveloped countries.
Guests from Malaysia who comprise three Muslim TV and Radio celebrities under the host of Islamic Relief Malawi visited Balaka in the area of traditional authority Amidu where the water project will be implemented.
Briefing journalists at Islamic Relief Malawi offices in Blantyre on Thursday, country representative for this organisation Sharifa Mia said a lot of people in the area of Traditional Authority Amidu are expected to benefit from the water project.
Mia said Islamic Relief Malaysia through Islamic Relief Malawi will drill boreholes and establish irrigation schemes among others.
“We decided to assist people in Balaka after noticing that the communities lack clean water and experience low harvests each year due to poor rainfall Patten,” said Mia.
Director of communication and Campaign for Islamic Relief Malaysia Siti fadilah Mohd told Radio Islam that the team of celebrities from Television and Radio Malaysia will intensify awareness campaign through social media to raise funds for Water projects in Malawi.
Mohd said Islamic Relief Malaysia feels obliged to assist people in Malawi through this water project with the little that people in Malaysia have.
“Every year Islamic Relief Malaysia conducts this kind of initiative and countries are assisted in different sectors like education, Agriculture and water,” Mohd said.
Islamic Relief Malawi implements a number of projects in several districts in the southern part of Malawi.
